Strategic Planning Process: The External Environmental Analysis.

Topic for lecture today is about external environment in page 38 from textbook strategic of management. An organization needs to understand its external environment. Why we need external environment in our organization?, this is because being aware of customer tastes and preferences, the changes of economy, and to know about their competitors. The external environment also can help the organization improve its performance or hinder its performance. Moreover, this external environment will focus on how firms analyzes and understand the external environment.

The general environments or macroenvironment is PESTEL.

First we will look into the General Environments @ macroenvironment. A simple word to remember the General and Industry Environment factor is PEST or sometimes PESTEL. They call it Pestel because have add environmental and legal.

PESTEL:

P: Political factors; for political stability and risk, import tariffs and quotas, export restrictions and anti-monopoly laws.

E: Economic factors; for economic growth, unemployment rate, inflation rate, inventory levels, and gross domestic products.

S: Socio-cultural factors; for demographic factors such as population size and distribution, age distribution, education levels, and income distribution. Then for attitudes towards are consumerism, environmentalism, work/leisure, and materialism.

T: Technological factors; for rate of technological transfer, energy use and cost, and intellectual property issues.

E: Environmental factors; for save the earth, and go green.

L: Legal factors; for valid or legal business.

The industry environment or microenvironment is Porter’s Five Forces.

Second we will look into the industry environment or microenvironment. These factors include the threat of new entrants, the bargaining power of supplier, threat of substitute products and services, bargaining power or buyers, and rivalry among the existing firms.

The example of Porters Five Forces is oil and gas industry:

Supplier: PETRONAS, BP, Caltex, Shell and so on

Buyers: The market structure is monopolistic and the non-price competitive is very common, so the buyer have to seek lower price and better contract terms.

New Entrants: High challenges for new entrants because of high fix cost, and the scarcity of resources.

Rivalry: The rivalry among the existing firm is very high.

Substitute: Solar power, wind power, coal, hydroelectric, and even nuclear energy.

Robin Hood

what i have learn in my tutorial?

Yes,,do you know the story of Robin Hood?
Actually, I not remember all of the story but let I tell a little bit of the story...:)
 Begin...RH is for (Robin Hood). RH and the evil of High Sheriff live at the same place call Sherwood Forest. but, RH not like Sheriff and same as Sheriff because the Sheriff take high tax from the villagers. to help the villages, RH rob from the rich and give to the poor.

So, to protect each other, RH build up his team and Sheriff also make stronger his team to fight with RH. RH team was called Merrymen's, and the team of Sheriff is powerful friends at court and he was used political connection to obtain reinforcement.
but, at the same time, the team of RH was down, because of the weak organization and the team of Sheriff was getting more stronger than RH because Sheriff have powerful friends. RH was trying to defeat Sheriff but he not have powerful team and not get revenge towards Sheriff because of his personal matters. Lastly, nothing was resolved and settled.

So here, what have i learn from this case study?

The key issues is:
1) Economic imbalance between rich and the poor.
2) Political problem
3) Management problem which is lack of discipline
4) Lack of power which is Robin Hood not have enough strategy and discipline to teach his teaam.

The alternative here is,
1)   negotiation with the sheriff to reduce the tax toward poor people or just tax rich people.
2) Do the delegation with the team.
3) Conspiracy in barons perhaps in networking which is RH can join ventures with the barons.

Moral of the story, what i have learn from the case is:
 1) First look what source we get from give to the other person, because RH give the poor from the source of rob
2)Second in vision and mission if we want to change, we must stick on one vision and mission to make our team more organize
3)Third is we should know how to handle the tsk and the mission
4)Fourth is know about the interest and the qualification from the team members.

Topic today: Introduction to Strategic Management and Operation.
what is strategic management and operation?first, we must analyze internal and external environment around us. Second, strategy implementation after formulate and third is strategy evaluation, weather successful or not. The example of strategic management and operation is about how strategic plan in organization such as in a football team. Say about football, actually I force to watch football,,ahha,,because my father, brother and my brother in-law was conquered television in my house, lastly I open my laptop and watch my korean drama,,krik2,,furthermore, I like European football than Malaysian football, because their skill and strategic plan are very different with Malaysian team and I don't know why,,I think Malaysian football team  should watch many European tournament and learn from their strategic management,,


 

hence, i also learn about other university vision and mission, which is local university and abroad university. From local university, our group choose University of Technology and from abroad we choose Nanyang University at Singapore. For Nanyang vision is to be a leading community of learning in the humanities, Arts, and social science devoted to the advancement of knowledge redrawing of intellectual boundaries, and making a positive difference in the lives of individuals and society in Singapore and beyond.

then, for the Nanyang mission is to cultivate the highest standards of education, to achieve preeminence in research and thought leadership and to promote interdisciplinary research humanities, arts, and social sciences with a difference.

My ViSion vs MiSsion

Assalamualaikum,,,anyong haseyo,,:)

Guess what will i tell u about my vision and my mission??hermm..
My vision is, I must finish my study first, and continue my study in Master, insyaallah,,keep pray on me,,eheh,,other than that of course I want to be a successful person in duniawi and ukhrowi and get a great job to pay on my debt especially my PTPTN loan..haha..(mkin lama makin naik itu loan smpai bile mau hbes,,haha)krik2..

Next, is my mission,, what about my mission?,,my mision is,,,I will try my best to graduate in november 2015 with flying colours,,insyaallah,,before that, I will do all my assignment and homework from my tutor and my letcurer also be a good student,,ehem,,because this is last semester  for me in USIM, I will stay calm and do a good job for my lecturer and my assignment teamwork,,lets fighting and chaiyokk you all.

First class activity -- strategic management and operation

Alhamdulillah, today i success in opening my own blog with the helper latifahilyanaibrahim.blogspot.com. and insyaallah i will keep writing,post and share to all my follower especially Dr. Ummi Salwa Binti Ahmad Bustamam.

12/9/2014 is our first lesson which is strategic management and operation with Dr.Ummi Salwa Binti Ahmad Bustamam with happening class..thank you to Dr.Ummi because prepare our class today with an interesting task which is build the tallest tower with newspaper..it is good start to learn in strategic management and operation..what i have learn today is how to build strong cooperation and how to be precise with our time management, creative thinking, strategy, follow the instruction, and I realize that we should have leader to make sure our progress in our team will going smoothly.

here, I put some interesting picture to share with you all to describe what is happening today...alhamdulillah, my team was build a twin tower. eventhought we are not winning the first place but we are satisfied with our teamwork and got the third place.
